The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.2022 to 17.05.2023 were approximately:

Glory to Ukraine! Four hundred and forty-eighth day of large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against our country continues.

During the day, the enemy launched 5 missile strikes on the cities of Bakhmut and Kherson using the S-300 air defense system. In addition, it carried out 32 airstrikes and carried out more than 40 attacks from MLRS systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population, private residential buildings and other civil and administrative infrastructure have been damaged.

The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high, because the enemy continues to use terror tactics.

The enemy continues to concentrate its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka directions. During the day, 25 combat clashes took place on the indicated areas of the front, Bakhmut and Maryinka remain at the epicenter of hostilities.

There are no major changes on the Volyn and Polissia directions.

On the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the enemy carried out mortar and artillery attacks on the settlements of Khotiivka, Chernihiv region; Novovasylivka, Komarivka, Volfyne of the Sumy region, as well as Guryiv Kozachok, Udy, Okip, Kozacha Lopan, Gatyshche, Vovchansk, Budarky, Zybyne, Ustinivka and Zarubinka in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy does not stop trying to improve the tactical position. During this period, he conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the districts of Masyutivka and Novoselivskoght. Made an air strike near Pershotravneve. The settlements of Krasne Pershe, Figolivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Masyutivka, Tabaivka, Berestovka of the Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka of the Luhansk region were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, during the day, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the Nevsky district of the Luhansk region. Carried out airstrikes in the areas of Bilogorivka, Verkhnokamyansky and Vesely. Makiivka, Nevske, Belogorivka of the Luhansk region and Torske, Dibrova, Verkhnokamianske and Spirne of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions. Heavy fighting continues for Bakhmut. In addition, during the day, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the direction of the settlement of Ivanovske. Carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Bakhmut, Kurdyumivka. Vasyukivka, Zaliznyanske, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Predtechine, Bila Gora, Severny, Shumy of the Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.

During the day, the enemy did not carry out offensive actions in the Avdiivka direction. Carried out airstrikes in the areas of Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Novoselivka Persha and Pervomaiske settlements, and shelled Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Karlivka and Nevelskyi in the Donetsk region.

In the Maryinka direction, units of the defense forces repelled numerous enemy attacks in the area of the city of Maryinka. At the same time, the enemy carried out an airstrike on Krasnohorivka and shelled the settlements of Maryinka, Paraskoviivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region.

During the day, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations in the Shakhtarsk direction. Carried out an air strike in the area of Velika Novosilka and shelled, in particular, Vugledar, Prechistivka, and Novoukrayinka.

The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. Carried out an airstrike on the settlement of Novopil in the Donetsk region and Malia Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia. At the same time, shelled more than 20 settlements. Among them are Vremivka, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, Novopil of the Donetsk region; Olhivske, Gulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Shcherbaki, Stepove and Kamianske of the Zaporizhzhia region; Zolota Balka, Kachkarivka, Red Lighthouse, Zmiivka, Berislav, Tyaginka, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Shiroka balka of the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces carried out 14 strikes on areas where the enemy’s personnel and military equipment were concentrated, of which 5 were on the occupiers’ anti-aircraft missile systems. In addition, during this day, our defenders destroyed 2 reconnaissance UAVs of the “Orlan-10” type.

Missile forces and artillery units hit 1 command post, 6 manpower concentration areas, 2 ammunition depots, 2 fuel and lubricant depots, 1 artillery unit in a firing position, 2 air defense facilities and 2 more important enemy targets.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
