Ukrainian General Staff: 470 Russian military casualties in 24 hour period

The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.2022 to 25.08.2023 were approximately:

Glory to Ukraine! The five hundred and forty-eighth day of large-scale armed aggression of the russian federation against our state continues.

During the day, the enemy launched 2 missile and 39 air strikes, launched 72 attacks from MLRS systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of successful combat work by the forces and means of the Air Force, 2 Kalibr cruise missiles and 1 Shahed-136/131 attack UAV were destroyed today. As a result of russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Residential buildings, schools and other civil infrastructure were destroyed.

The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

35 combat clashes took place during the day.

On the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

On the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the enemy carried out mortar and artillery attacks on more than 25 settlements, in particular, Liskivshchyna, Bohdanovye, Chernihiv region; Seredyna-Buda, Kucherivka, Khodyne, Stepne, Myropilske of Sumy Oblast and Gatishche, Vovchansk, Synelnikove of Kharkiv Oblast.

In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy launched airstrikes in the Kislivka and Pischany districts of the Kharkiv region. The settlements of Hryanikyvka, Synkivka, Kupyansk, Orlyanske of the Kharkiv region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the Novoyehorivka area of the Luhansk region. He carried out airstrikes in the areas of Krasnoy Stav of the Kharkiv region, Tverdokhlibovoy, Makiivka of the Luhansk region, and Vesely of the Donetsk region. More than 30 settlements, in particular, Nadiya, Tverdokhlybove of the Luhansk region and Siversk, Verkhnyokamianske, Berestov, Vesele of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery fire from the enemy.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the Klishchiivka area of the Donetsk region. More than 25 settlements were affected by enemy artillery fire, among them: Zaliznianske, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, Stupochki of the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the Pervomaysky district of the Donetsk region. The settlements of Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severne, Pervomaiske, Nevelske of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.

In the Marinka direction, the defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the Marinka area of the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an airstrike in the Krasnohorivka region of the Donetsk region. The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Kurakhove, Novomykhailivka, Kostyantynivka, Gostre of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.

In the Shakhtarske direction, our defenders successfully repelled the attacks of russian troops in the Vugledar area of the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Vugledar, Vremivka, Blagodatny, Staromayorskyi, and Urozhanyi of the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, among them: Vugledar, Prechistivka, Zolota Niva, Maksimivka, Blagodatne, Urozhayne of the Donetsk region.

In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the districts of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyny, and Novodanilivka of the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 settlements were affected by the enemy’s artillery fire, including: Novoandriivka, Shcherbaki, Pavlivka, Pyatikhatky, Stepove, Kamianske of the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, Khreshchenivka, Dmytrivka, Mykilske, Kherson, Dniprovske of the Kherson region were hit by enemy artillery fire.

At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, are entrenched at the achieved boundaries, and carry out counter-battery countermeasures.

During the day, the aviation of the defense forces made 10 strikes on personnel concentration areas and 1 strike on the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile complex.

During the day, units of missile troops and artillery hit 1 anti-aircraft missile system and 3 artillery pieces at the enemy’s firing positions.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
