Operational information on 18.00, 03.10.2023 regarding the #russian_invasion 

Glory to Ukraine! The five hundred and eighty-seventh day of large-scale armed aggression of the russian federation against our state continues.

The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, and attacks both military and civilian objects.

During the day, 26 combat clashes took place. Also, the russian federation struck another blow against Ukraine, using the “Iskander-K” cruise missile and 31 “Shahed-136/131” type UAVs. The Iskander-K cruise missile and 29 enemy Shaheds were destroyed by anti-aircraft defense. In total, the enemy launched 3 missile and 80 air strikes, carried out 
28 attacks from MLRS systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.

On the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

In the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, continues shelling of populated areas from the territory of the russian federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. More than 25 settlements, including Karpovychi, Bleshnya, Yelina of Chernihiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks; Khotyn, Yastrubyne, Volodymyrivka, Novodmytrivka, Sumy region; Udy, Kozacha Lopan, Ivashki, Gatishche of the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes near Petropavlivka, Senkovo, Synkivka, Kharkiv region. More than 10 settlements, in particular, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Kucherivka, Berestov, Petropavlivka of the Kharkiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled about 10 enemy attacks in the Makiivka area of the Luhansk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Novoselivskyi, Luhansk region, Novy, Kolodyazyu, Yampolivka, Stavky, Vesely, Spirny, Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar shelling, among them Makiivka, Nevske, Belogorivka of Luhansk region and Novosadove, Torske, Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka of Donetsk region.

In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to restore the lost position in the Andriivka area of the Donetsk region. Carried out airstrikes near the settlements of Bohdanivka, Kostyantynivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka and Oleksandro-Shultine, Katerynivka in the Donetsk region. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Bila Gora, Ivanovske, Klishchiivka, New York of the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, the Defense Forces repelled all enemy attacks in the Pervomaisky area of the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Stepove, Avdiivka, Karlivka, Novokalynove, and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Marinka direction, during the day, the Defense Forces successfully repelled 
10 attacks in the Marinka district of the Donetsk region and an enemy attack in the Krasnohorivka district of the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes near Marinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. About 10 settlements were under the fire of the occupiers, in particular, Georgiivka, Katerynivka, Marinka, Pobyeda of the Donetsk region.

In the direction of Shakhtarske, the occupiers carried out airstrikes in the areas of Vodiane, Urozhane, Shakhtarske settlements of the Donetsk region. Vugledar, Novoukrainka, Urozhayne, Staromayorske of the Donetsk region were subjected to artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, the occupiers carried out airstrikes in the areas of Novodarivka, Robotyne, Staromayorske settlements of the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 25 settlements were shelled with artillery and mortars, in particular, Levadne, Gulyaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Lobkovo, Robotine, Pyatikhatka, Orihiv of the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Antonivka and Olhivka settlements of the Kherson region. More than 10 settlements were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including Antonivka, Chornobayivka, Zmiivka in the Kherson region and the city of Kherson, Dmytrivka in the Mykolaiv region.

At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue offensive operations in the Melitopol direction, offensive (assault) actions in the Bakhmut direction, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying troops, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces made 13 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 4 – on the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile systems.

Units of the missile forces hit 3 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 20 artillery pieces of the enemy.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
