Challenges Facing the United States and Israel

Sallai Meridor, Ambassador of Israel

Sallai Merridor, Ambassador of Israel, discusses his reflections on Israel’s current foreign relations. He mentions nuclear proliferation as a mutual concern of both Israel and the U.S., as well as the potential of non-state actors getting access to nuclear power. The enrichment of uranium in Iran is also a concern, which has led other countries in the region to feel a necessity to own nuclear power themselves. Merridor then relays his thoughts on Israel’s relationships with its neighbors, Syria and Palestine. There are attempts at engagement with Syria, and Merridor also describes conditions that will lead to Palestinian statehood and economic growth.
