Ukrainian General Staff: Approximately 1,270 Russian troops killed or wounded in 24 hours; 52 tanks and APCs destroyed or disabled

Operational information as of 22.30 09.06.2024 regarding the Russian invasion

Since the beginning of the current day, 73 combat clashes have taken place. Russian zagarbniki launched three missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine with the use of three missiles and 53 aviation strikes with the use of 69 cabins, carried out 529 kamikaze drones. Russians carried out 2888 shelling at the positions of our troops and settlements using different types of weapons.

In the Kharkiv direction, there were five combat clashes without success for the opponent. The occupiers continued to attempt to attack our units in the districts of Vovchansk, Liptsiv and western Glibokoye.

In the Kupiansky and Lyman directions, the situation has not experienced significant changes. The offensive actions of the opponent were unsuccessful, the situation is under control. There are two enemy attacks in the areas of Pi Триanyogo and Grekívka.

On the sívers .komu direction Russian occupiers unsuccessfully attacked our positions in the area of viímki.

Nine combat clashes took place in the Kramatorsky direction. The occupiers showed the greatest activity in the Ivanivsky area, but all attempts of the enemy to improve their position were unsuccessful.

In the Pokrovsky direction, the aggressor 27 times attacked the positions of our warriors in the areas of Progress, Evgenivka, Novooleksandrívka, Novopokrovskogo, Novoselívki the First, Yasnobrodívka and Karlívka. 18 attacks down, nine still ongoing. The situation is intense. Defense Forces keep borders, take measures to prevent the enemy’s advancement into the territory of Ukraine.

In the Kurakhiv direction, the enemy attacked our positions in the areas of Paraskovíivka and Krasnogorivka eight times. Seven attacks done. An ongoing battle in the area of Krasnogorivka. The situation is under the control of Defense Forces.

In the Orihiv and Pridniprovsky directions, the situation remained without significant changes. Just since the beginning of the day, the enemy four times unsuccessfully tried to push our defenders out of occupied positions in the areas of small tokmačka and krynok. Loss of positions and territories is not allowed.

In the rest of the directions, there were no significant changes in the environment.

Our Air and Missile and Artillery units have since the beginning of this day targeted three personnel and military equipment concentration areas, one PPO, two artillery devices, an occupant radio station and a military warehouse.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
