Robert Ruby served as a correspondent based in Europe and then the Middle East for The Baltimore Sun before becoming the newspaper’s foreign editor. The author of non-fiction books about the Middle East and the Canadian Arctic, he later became an executive at human rights organizations, including the International Center for Transitional Justice, and Freedom House. He teaches courses on human rights at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland College Park.
