Russia claims it averted Ukraine attack on a key Dnieper river dam

On the morning of April 15, the Russian armed forces prevented an attempt of the Kiev nationalist regime with a missile strike to defeat the Kakhovskaya GES dam.

◽️ This critically important object ensures the regulation of the waste of the Dnieper River, power supply of electricity in the Kherson region, as well as water supply to agricultural areas of southern Ukraine and northern areas of Crimea.

◽️ Around 7 in the morning Moscow time, the division of the Ukrainian 19th separate missile brigade on the Kakhovskaya GES was struck by two tactical missiles “Tochka-U”

❗️ The destruction of the Kakhov GES dam was supposed to lead to an uncontrollable drop of Dniprovsk water and caused a flood of many settlements of the Kherson region together with people in order to stamp out the actions of the Russian Armed Forces.

◽️ Both missiles were shot down in the air by Russian air air force. The fragments of one of them fell on the settlement of Novaya Kakhovka, Kherson region. The kindergarten building and residential houses were damaged. Injured were a woman and a child who were given first medical aid by Russian soldiers. They are currently being delivered to a medical facility.

◽️ The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue a special military operation in Ukraine.

◽️ During the day, high-precision air-based missiles were struck by 10 opponent objects.

Among them are destroyed:

▫️ in the settlements of Barvenkovo, Kramatorsk and Lisichansk, three districts of the concentration of units 81st and 93rd of separate mechanized brigades of Ukrainian troops;

▫️ in the settlements of the Upstanskoe Odessa Oblast and Novoelizavetovka are two places of focus of Ukrainian military equipment and weapons;

▫️ in the neighborhoods of Parutino and Nikolaev, there are warehouses of rocket-artillery weapons;

▫️ in Yasenovoye and Sribnoe location points of nationalist formations.

💥 With missile troops and artillery, 217 military objects of Ukraine were defeated, including 15 points of control units of Ukrainian troops, as well as the 201th support point and the center of the enemy’s live force.

💥 6 Ukrainian military units were destroyed by prompt and tactical aviation within a day. Among them: an artillery battery, two fire jet systems installations, two missile artillery warehouses and three areas of concentration of personal composition and Ukrainian military equipment.

💥 Russian anti-aircraft defense in the area of the Oktyabrsky settlement crashed Ukrainian drone Tu-143 “Flight”.

📊 In total, since the beginning of a special military operation, 132 planes, 105 helicopters, 245 zenit missile complexes, 457 unmanned aircraft, 2224 tanks and other armored vehicles have been destroyed, 251 jet systems installed eating light fire, 971 field artillery and mortar weapons, as well as 2123 units of special military automobile equipment.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
