Russian Defence Ministry on progress of special military operation as of 28 January 2026
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.
Units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on formations of two mechanised brigades of the AFU near Proletarskoye and Miropolye (Sumy region).
In Kharkov direction, units of one mechanised brigade and one motorised infantry brigade of the AFU and one national guard brigade have been hit close to Grafskoye, Verkhnyaya Pisarevka, Neskuchnoye, and Krugloye (Kharkov region).
The AFU losses amounted to more than 145 troops, one armoured fighting vehicle, three motor vehicles, one MLRS and one Western-made field artillery gun. Four materiel depots were destroyed.
The Zapad Group of Forces improved the situation along the front line. Russian troops engaged two mechanised brigades, two assault brigades, one assault regiment of the AFU, and one national guard brigade have been hit close to Rubtsy, Yatskovka, Korovy Yar (Donetsk People’s Republic), Blagodatovka, Nechvolodovka, Novonikolayevka, and Petrovka (Kharkov region).
The enemy losses amounted to more than 180 troops, four armoured fighting vehicles, 19 motor vehicles, and four artillery guns, including two Western-made ones. Four field ammunition depots were eliminated.
The Yug Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions. Russian troops hit formations of three mechanised brigades and one motorised infantry brigade of the AFU close to Druzhkovka, Vasyutinskoye, Krasnotorka, and Konstantinovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The AFU losses amounted to up to 100 troops, one armoured fighting vehicle, 13 motor vehicles, three artillery guns, including one Western-made gun, and two electronic warfare stations. One ammunition and two materiel depots were eliminated.
The Tsentr Group of Forces improved the tactical situation. Russian troops inflicted losses on formations of four mechanised brigades, one jaeger brigade, one air assault brigade, one special forces brigade, one assault regiment of the AFU, and two national guard brigade near Sergeyevka, Belitskoye, Kutuzovka, Grishino (Donetsk People’s Republic), Mezhevaya, Novopodgorodnoye, and Novopavlovka (Dnepropetrovsk region).
The AFU losses amounted to more than 390 troops, five armoured fighting vehicles, and eight motor vehicles.
The Vostok Group of Forces continued advancing to the depth of the enemy’s defences. Strikes were delivered at formations of two mechanised brigades, two assault brigades, one airmobile brigade, and three assault regiments of the AFU close to Zaliznichnoye, Rizdvyanka, Vozdvizhevka, Zarnitsa, Rozovka, Komsomolskoye, Dolinka, Tsvetkovoye (Zaporozhye region), and Vasilkovka (Dnepropetrovsk region).
The enemy lost more than 270 troops, four armoured fighting vehicles, and 20 motor vehicles.
The Dnepr Group’s units inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of one mechanised brigade and one mountain assault brigade of the AFU near Odarovka (Zaporozhye region) and Sadovoye (Kherson region).
Up to 40 troops, four motor vehicles, and two electronic warfare stations were neutralised.
Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops, and artillery of the Russian groups of forces have inflicted damage on the storage and pre-launch areas of long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, a fuel base, as well as temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 158 areas.
Air defence systems shot down 175 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation the enemy has lost:
670 aircraft,
283 helicopters,
111,406 unmanned aerial vehicles,
646 anti-aircraft missile systems,
27,364 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles,
1,652 MLRS combat vehicles,
32,903 field artillery guns and mortars,
53,043 units of support military vehicles.
