Russian Defence Ministry on progress of special military operation as of 23 September 2025
Last night, in response to a terrorist strike against civilian targets on the territory of Foros (Republic of Crimea) that killed and injured civilians, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out a group strike against temporary deployment areas of the AFU special operations and foreign mercenaries of the Prizraki detachment (Defence Intelligence of Ukraine) near Tatarbunary and Rasseyka (Odessa region), which prepared and carried out this terrorist attack.
Unmanned aerial vehicle depots have been hit at the Shkolny airfield in Odessa region, from which attack drones were launched to hit civilian infrastructure facilities in the Republic of Crimea.
A strike was also carried out to hit the Motor Sich enterprise’s workshops of the Ukrainian defence industry, where attack drones used by the Kiev regime to deliver strikes on the territory of Russia were assembled.
Units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on formations of two mechanised brigades, one jaeger brigade, an assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a territorial defence brigade near Solayniki, Andreyevka, Pavlovka, Alekseyevka, and Varachino (Sumy region).
In Kharkov direction, Russian troops hit units of one motorised infantry brigade of the AFU and one territorial defence brigade near Volchansk and Bochkovo (Kharkov region).
The AFU lost more than 180 troops, six motor vehicles, one artillery gun, two electronic warfare stations, and five ammunition and materiel depots.
The Zapad Group’s units improved the tactical situation close to Kupyansk (Kharkov region) and Kirovsk (Donetsk People’s Republic).
They inflicted fire damage on three mechanised brigades and one assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Boguslavka (Kharkov region), Dibrova, Yampol, and Shandrigolovo (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The enemy losses amounted to more than 230 troops, four armoured fighting vehicles, 17 motor vehicles, and one U.S.-made M198 howitzer. Two U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-fire radars, nine electronic warfare stations, and five ammunition depots were neutralised.
The Yug Group’s units liberated Pereyezdnoye (Donetsk People’s Republic) and continued to neutralise the enemy, who had been surrounded near Kleban-Byk (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Russian troops hit formations of four mechanised brigades, one assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one marine brigade, one territorial defence brigade, and one National Guard brigade near Seversk, Nikolaypolye, Fedorovka, Mayskoye, Ivanopolye, and Konstantinovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The AFU losses amounted to up to 250 troops, four armoured fighting vehicles, including one Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, one U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carrier, 12 motor vehicles, and four field artillery guns. One electronic warfare station and four ammunition and materiel depots were neutralised.
The Tsentr Group’s units improved the situation along the front line. They hit manpower and military hardware of four mechanised brigades, one airmobile brigade, one assault brigade, two air assault brigades, and three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Dimitrov, Toretskoye, Novopavlovka, Rodinskoye, Krasny Liman, Krasnoarmeysk (Donetsk People’s Republic), Slavyanka, and Novonikolayevka (Dnepropetrovsk region).
Ukrainian armed formations lost more than 580 troops, two tanks, eight motor vehicles, and three artillery guns.
The units of the Vostok Group of Forces advanced to the depths of the enemy’s defence. They hit units of two mechanised brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and two territorial defence brigades near Verbovoye, Vishnevoye, Stepovoye (Dnepropetrovsk region), and Poltavka (Zaporozhye region).
The AFU losses amounted to up to 330 troops, two armoured fighting vehicles, 24 motor vehicles, one self-propelled artillery system, one electronic warfare station, and two materiel depots.
The Dnepr Group’s units inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of one mechanised brigade and three coastal defence brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Antonovka, Nikolskoye, Veletenskoye, Belozerka (Kherson region), and Malaya Tokmachka (Zaporozhye region).
Up to 60 Ukrainian troops, seven motor vehicles, three electronic warfare stations, and one ammunition depot were neutralised.
Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack UAVs, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces have engaged two launcher launchers and one AN/MPQ-65 radar of a U.S.-made Patriot SAM system, military airfield infrastructure, railway transport facility used to redeploy AFU troops, depots and launch sites for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, and temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations in 152 areas.
Air defence systems shot down three guided aerial bombs, three HIMARS MLRS projectiles, and 438 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the enemy has lost:

283 helicopters,
86,260 unmanned aerial vehicles,
630 anti-aircraft missile systems,
25,220 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles,
1,592 MLRS combat vehicles,
29,851 field artillery guns and mortars,
42,454 special military vehicles.
