Glory to Ukraine! The four hundred and twenty-ninth day of large-scale armed aggression by the russian federation against our state continues.

Today, the russian federation launched another massive missile attack on civilian objects and residential buildings. Unfortunately, there is a hit. Civilians were killed and injured. Not having the desired results on the battlefield, the russian aggressor cynically continues to use terror tactics, thereby grossly violating the norms of International Humanitarian Law.

In total, during the day, the enemy launched 23 X-101 and X-555 cruise missiles. Our defenders destroyed 21 cruise missiles, as well as two operational-tactical UAVs. The cities of Uman in Cherkasy Oblast, Dnipro, as well as Ukrainka in Kyiv Oblast were affected by the rocket terror of the russians. According to preliminary information, more than 20 civilians were killed, among them 3 children. More than 10 apartment buildings and other civil infrastructure were damaged. Also, the enemy carried out 28 airstrikes and carried out 11 shots from MLRS systems.

The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

The enemy is concentrating its main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka areas. During the day, carried out more than 40 attacks on the specified areas of the front. Bakhmut and Maryinka remain at the epicenter of hostilities, our soldiers bravely defend themselves.

On the Volyn and Polissiya directions, the operational situation has not undergone significant changes. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups.

The military presence of the enemy in the border areas of the russian federation with Ukraine is maintained in the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions. In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy did not carry out offensive actions, actively using unmanned aerial vehicles to adjust artillery fire. The settlements of Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Figolivka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Lyman Pershey, Synkivka, Kislivka, Berestov in Kharkiv region and Novoselivske in Luhansk region were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Maryinka direction, our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka settlements. At the same time, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

The enemy did not carry out offensive actions in the direction of Shakhtarsk during the day. Carried out airstrikes on Vugledar, Prechistivka and Shakhtarsk in the Donetsk region.

The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. Meanwhile, shelled more than 40 settlements. The enemy continues to use the educational institutions of the temporarily captured territories for its own purposes, sets up its military facilities in them, covering itself with a “human shield” of schoolchildren and teaching staff.

For example, in the Lubyanka settlement of the Luhansk region, servicemen of the russian occupation forces are stationed in the building of the local school. The personnel are placed in the buildings of educational institutions, while the occupiers force the teaching staff to continue the educational process with compulsory attendance by children and teaching staff.

The occupiers converted the local hospital of the city of Kalanchak, Kherson region, into a military hospital, where, during April 27, a large number of seriously wounded russians were brought. He used a KAMAZ-based medical truck to transport his wounded enemies.

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces made 4 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel and military equipment of the occupiers.

Units of rocket troops and artillery, at the same time, hit 3 control points, an ammunition warehouse and 4 areas of concentration of the enemy’s manpower.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
