The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.2022 to 24.04.2023 were approximately:

Glory to Ukraine! The four hundred and twenty-fifth day of large-scale armed aggression by the russian federation against Ukraine continues.

During the day, the enemy launched 6 rocket and 47 air strikes, carried out 25 attacks from MLRS systems on the positions of our troops and critical infrastructure of populated areas.

The probability of further missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

The main efforts of the enemy are focused on conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka directions – more than 30 enemy attacks were repulsed. The fiercest battles continue for Bakhmut and Maryinka.

On the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups.

The enemy maintains a military presence in the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions in the Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine. During the day, he shelled the settlements of Gremyach, Chernihiv region; Kucherivka, Shalygine, Iskryskivshchyna, and Popivka in the Sumy region, as well as Okip, Mali Prohody, Strelecha, Neskuchne, Gatyshche, Budarky, and Chugunivka in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy continues measures to fortify positions in separate areas. Topoli, Kamianka, Krasne Pershe, Figolivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kislivka in the Kharkiv region and Novoselivske in the Luhansk region were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

The enemy did not conduct offensive operations in the Lyman direction. Makiivka, Nevske, Dibrova, Belogorivka in the Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne and Pereizne in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions. Heavy fighting continues for the city of Bakhmut. In addition, during the day, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the direction of the settlements of Novomarkove and Khromove. Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Hryhorivka, Khromove, Bakhmut, Ivanovske, Chasiv Yar, Severnye and New York of the Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy carried out offensive actions near the settlements of Novokalynove, Stepove and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region, without success. Shelled, in particular, Novokalynov, Avdiivka, Severna, Tonenka, Pervomaiske, Karlivka and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

In the Maryinka direction, during the day, our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the area of the Maryinka settlement, as well as near Novomykhailivka. Krasnohorivka, Gostre, Maryinka, Pobyeda, Novomykhailivka, and Paraskoviivka of the Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

During the current day, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations in the Shakhtarsk direction. Shelled the settlements of Vugledar, Prechistivka, Velyka Novosilka and Komar in the Donetsk region.

The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. At the same time, during the day, shelled the settlements near the battle line. Among them are Novosilka, Novopil of the Donetsk region; Olhivske, Malynyvka, Chervone, Charivne, Orihiv of the Zaporizhzhia region and the city of Kherson.

The enemy continues to use the civil infrastructure of temporarily captured settlements for its own purposes. In particular, in Golubivka, in the Luhansk region, the russian occupiers use one of the schools as a medical center to provide medical assistance to their servicemen.

During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces carried out 6 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel and military equipment of the occupiers. Also, 2 enemy reconnaissance UAVs of different types were shot down. Units of missile troops and artillery struck the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile complex and 2 electronic warfare stations during the day.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
