Ukraine Defense Ministry: Russian forces continue airstrikes, rocket attacks and shelling during the supposed operational pause

Ukraine Defense Ministry

The one hundred thirty seventh (137) day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to a Russian military invasion continues.

Russian occupiers cynically continue to launch rocket attacks on civilian targets, killing civilians. We urge you not to ignore air warning signals, wherever you are on the territory of Ukraine.

The situation has not undergone significant changes in the Volyn and Polissya directions.

In the Siverskyi direction, the enemy used barrel and jet artillery to shell the areas of the settlements of Bachivsk, Volfyne, Myropillya, Volodymyrivka, Oleksiivka, and Vovkivka in the Sumy oblast, and Senkivka and Mykolaivka in the Chernihiv oblast. In addition, in the Vovkivka and Volfyne regions, enemy assault and army aircraft struck.

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy used tanks, barrel and rocket artillery to bombard Kharkiv and settlements in the Kharkiv oblast to the north, east and south of this city.

The enemy launched airstrikes near Verkhniy Saltov, Petrivka, and Mospanove.

In the Slovyansk direction, the enemy carried out fire damage in the areas of the settlements of Dolyna, Dibrovne, Mazanivka, Bohorodichne, Adamivka, Andriivka, Barvinkove, Virnopillya, Velyka Komyshuvakha, Krasnopillya, Nova Dmytrivka, Khrestyshche, Novopavlivka, Nikopol, Chervone, and Sulihivka. It used aviation to carry out a strike near Bohorodychne.

Thanks to the skilful actions of the Ukrainian soldiers, the occupiers clearly failed the combat reconnaissance in the direction of Mazanivka and retreated with losses.

In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy shelled the areas of Kurdyumivka, Luhanske, Berestove, Vyimka, Ivano-Daryivka, Shumy and Pereizne settlements with barrel and rocket artillery.

On the Avdiyivka, Kurakhivka, Novopavlivka, and Zaporizhzhia directions along the contact line, mutual shelling continues with the use of mortars, tanks, barrel and rocket artillery.

The enemy launched airstrikes near Avdiivka and Volodymyrivka. It tried to improve the tactical position in the area of Novoselivka Druha by means of assaults, but was unsuccessful and withdrew.

In the Southern Buh direction, the enemy is trying to prevent the advancement of units of the Defense Forces deep into the temporarily occupied territory with the available means of fire damage.

In readiness for launching missile strikes on objects on the territory of Ukraine, the enemy keeps two carriers of high-precision weapons in the sea.

Russian occupiers, in order to somehow justify their destruction of civilian objects on the territory of Ukraine, continue to lie about the alleged location of military units in schools, hospitals and apartment buildings.

We urge you to trust information only from verified sources and not to spread Russian fakes and disinformation.

Ministry of Defense of Ukraine:  Ukraine is de facto integrating into NATO

Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov: “Security architectures can vary, thus new international alliances may be required”.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine discussed his opinions on security alliances in the course a business conference on the Forbes platform. President of Ukraine Zelenskyy has clearly formulated as special strategy providing for defensive reaction within 24 hours.  Said actions would be communicated with our prospective partners, including the United States, Great Britain, Turkey, Germany, France.  Ukraine is not as yet accepted   by NATO states as a full member de jure. As we know, NATO requires full consensus among member countries.

However, Ukraine is currently de facto integrating into NATO. As we are on NATO’s eastern flank, we have been delivered NATO equipment and have mastered multiple NATO standards. Nonetheless, I believe it may be necessary to create new security alliances, We can observe the current independent policies of Great Britain, our trusted partner. Among our other powerful partners are Canada and Australia. We have excellent relations with the Baltic countries and have become a full member of the Three Seas project. I cannot neglect to applaud our outstanding relations with Poland.

The foregoing examples suggest that current security architectures can vary.: The supply of weapons, technologies, intelligence, aerial reconnaissance, space intelligence can be adjusted base on agreements with partners.,

According to the Constitution of Ukraine, international policy is subject to the authority of the President., the Chief of Staff of the Office of President, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Base on specific circumstances the foregoing along with other officials will take part in security decision making. Thus our current vison calls policy and strategy being governed by agreements among partner countries”.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
