Ukraine General Staff: 660 Russian troops killed in 24 hours

The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.2022 to 24.07.2023 were approximately:

·       personnel ‒ about 242620 (+660) persons,

·       tanks ‒ 4162 (+11),

·       APV ‒ 8118 (+13),

·       artillery systems – 4675 (+17),

·       MLRS – 697 (+0),

·       anti-aircraft warfare systems ‒ 452 (+1),

·       aircraft – 315 (+0),

·       helicopters – 310 (+0),

·       UAV operational-tactical level – 3963 (+5),

·       cruise missiles ‒ 1307 (+9),

·       warships / boats ‒ 18 (+0),

·       vehicles and fuel tanks – 7182 (+10),

·       special equipment ‒ 698 (+2).

Operational information as of 18.00 on 24.07.2023 regarding the Russian invasion

The five hundred and sixteenth day of large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against our state continues.

During the day, the enemy launched 1 missile and 58 air strikes, carried out more than 26 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, children and civilians have been killed and injured, port infrastructure and grain storage facilities in the south of Ukraine, residential buildings and other infrastructure have been destroyed and damaged.

The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

During the day, 23 combat clashes took place.

On the Volyn and Poliske directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups.

The enemy maintains a military presence in the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions. He carried out airstrikes in the areas of Guryev Kozachok and Pishchane settlements of the Kharkiv region. Areas of more than 15 settlements were shelled with mortars and artillery, in particular: northeast of Leonivka, Chernihiv region; to the east of Boyaro-Lezhachiv, Ugroida, to the southeast of Popivka of the Sumy region and Basiv, Guryiv Kozachok, Graniv, Pishchane, Kozacha Lopan, Gatishche of the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyan direction, airstrikes were recorded near Terni, Vilshanaya, Kislivka, Kharkiv region. Krasne Pershe, Figolivka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kup’yansk, Odradne of the Kharkiv region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Belogorivka, Luhansk region, and Lyman, Yampol, Siversk, Spirn, and Rozdolivka, Donetsk region. The settlements of Nevske, Bilogorivka in the Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, our defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in the areas northwest of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, south of Ivanivskyi and west of Klishchiivka of the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the districts of Dilyivka and Predechyny of the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Vasyukivka, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar of the Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery shelling.

In the Avdiyiv direction, under heavy fire from the enemy’s aircraft and artillery, our defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the Pervomaisky area of the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes near Novokalynovy, Avdiyivka, Nevelsky, Donetsk region. At the same time, he carried out artillery shelling of more than 10 settlements, including Avdiivka, Lastochkine, Vodyane, Pervomaiske and Karlivka of the Donetsk region.

In the Mariinsky direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the Krasnohorivka and Maryinka districts of the Donetsk region. The enemy shelled more than 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobyeda, Georgiivka, and Maksimilianivka in the Donetsk region.

On the Shakhtarsky direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the Rivnopol region of the Donetsk region. He shelled more than 10 settlements, including Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka, Vugledar, and Blagodatne in the Donetsk region.

On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts on preventing the further advance of our troops.

He carried out airstrikes in the regions of Mala Tokmachka, Orikhov, and Lobkovo of the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 30 settlements, including Gulyaipole, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaki, and Stepnogrisk of the Zaporizhzhya region, were hit by artillery fire; Zolota Balka, Mykhailivka, Kachkarivka, Kozatske of the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, are entrenched at the reached boundaries, inflict fire damage with artillery on identified enemy targets, and carry out counter-battery countermeasures.

Russian invaders continue to commit looting in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. In particular, in the village of Myronivskyi of the Donetsk region, since July 10, the arrival of occupiers from the “Akhmat” unit of the Russian Guards, who forcibly evict local civilians from their houses to the street and arbitrarily move into housing, has been established. Also, the above-mentioned representatives of the Russian occupying forces are massively engaged in looting, which causes a wave of discontent among civilians.

At the same time, the Russian occupiers continue to use the civilian medical infrastructure of temporarily captured settlements to provide medical care to their wounded servicemen. In the village of Radensk, Kherson region, Russian servicemen equipped the territory of a local kindergarten for a field hospital. Dozens of wounded occupiers are being treated there.

During the day, the aviation of the defense forces made 8 strikes on the areas of concentration of military personnel, weapons and military equipment, and 4 – on the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile systems.

During the day, our defenders destroyed 3 enemy attack UAVs of the “Shakhed-136” type.

During the day, units of missile forces and artillery struck 4 control points, 3 anti-aircraft defenses, 9 artillery weapons in firing positions, and 4 radio-electronic warfare stations of the occupiers.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
