Ukrainian General Staff: 1030 Russian combat casualties in 24 hours; 75 Russian tanks and APC’s destroyed

The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.22 to 13.10.23 were approximately:

The operational update regarding the russian_invasion on 18.00 13.10.2023. 

Glory to Ukraine! Five hundred and ninety-seven days of large-scale armed aggression by the russian federation against our state continue.

Kremlin terrorist forces cynically launched a rocket attack on the children’s home of creativity in the center of the city of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. More than 20 civilians were injured as a result of the targeted attack, and two administrative buildings were partially destroyed.

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.

During the day, 68 combat clashes took place. The enemy launched 2 rocket and 39 air strikes, fired 24 from MLRS at the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

On the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

In the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, continues shelling of populated areas from the territory of the russian federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. Carried out airstrikes in the areas of Leonivka and Gremyach settlements of Chernihiv region; Popovka of the Sumy region. More than 15 settlements, including Senkivka, Bleshnya, Chernihiv region; Bachivsk, Vyshenki, Volfine, Mogrytsia, Sumy region; Ternova, Gatishche, Pletenivka, Kharkiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 12 enemy attacks in the Sinkivka, Ivanovka, and Kislivka districts of the Kharkiv region. In addition, the enemy launched airstrikes here. More than 15 settlements, in particular, Krasne Pershe, Figolivka, Novomlynsk, Zapadne, Kup’yansk, Berestov of the Kharkiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Nevsky, Novolyubivka, Belogorivka, Serebryansk Forestry of Luhansk Oblast, and Spirny of Donetsk Oblast. At the same time, the Defense Forces repelled enemy attacks in the Makiivka area of Luhansk region. About 15 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar shelling, among them Nevske, Belogorivka of Luhansk region and Dronivka, Vyimka, Fedorivka of Donetsk region.

In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the districts of Bila Hora, Aleksandro-Shultyny and New York of the Donetsk region. More than 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Minkivka, Bogdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Kurdyumivka of the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders courageously hold their defense, repulsed 10 enemy attacks in the area of Avdiivka settlement and more than 15 attacks in the Keramik, Tonenko, Severny, Pervomaisky, Netaylovy districts of Donetsk region. The occupiers carried out airstrikes in the areas of Novokalynove and Avdiivka settlements of the Donetsk region. About 20 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Opytne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske of the Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

During the day in the Marinka direction, the defense forces successfully repelled about 10 enemy attacks in the Marinka area of the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes in Marinka and Novomykhailivka districts of Donetsk region. About 10 settlements, in particular, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Pobyeda, Novomykhailivka, Antonivka, Elizavetivka of the Donetsk region, came under the artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

In the direction of Shakhtarske, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assaults with the support of aviation in the area of the village of Staromayorske, Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Vodyane, Vugledar, Prechistivka, Zolota Niva, Urozhane, and Blagodatne of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to restore the lost position in the Robotyny area of the Zaporizhzhia region. The occupiers launched an airstrike in the Novoandriivka region of the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 25 settlements, in particular, Gulyaipole, Orihiv, Novodanilivka, Robotyne, Mali Shcherbaki, and Plavni of the Zaporizhzhia region were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Kherson direction, the occupiers carried out airstrikes in the areas of Kozatske, Odradokamyanka, Mykolaivka, Olhivka, Vysoke and Ulyanivka settlements of the Kherson region. Beryslav, Sadove, Stanislav, Oleksandrivka and the regional center of the Kherson region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, offensive (assault) actions in the Bakhmut direction, inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying forces, and exhaust the enemy along the entire front line.

During the day, aviation of Defense Forces made 12 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and the bridge of the enemy. Our defenders also destroyed the russian Su-25 fighter jet and the Orlan-10 operational-tactical UAV.

Units of the missile forces inflicted damage on the control point, the area of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, the ammunition warehouse and the enemy’s EW station.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
