Ukrainian General Staff: 990 Russian combat casualties in 24 hours; 86 tanks and armored troop carriers destroyed

Glory to Ukraine! The five hundred and ninety-sixth day of large-scale armed aggression of the russian federation against our state continues.

55 combat clashes took place during the day. The enemy launched 2 rocket and 55 air strikes, launched more than 20 attacks from MLRS systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.

On the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

In the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, continues shelling of populated areas from the territory of the russian federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. Carried out airstrikes near Popivka and Seredyn Buda, Sumy region. About 20 settlements, including Bleshnya, Buchka of the Chernihiv region; Mefedivka, Seredyna-Buda, Fotovizh, Chuykivka, Stepok of the Sumy region; Gatishche, Vovchansk, Veterinary of Kharkiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 4 enemy attacks in the Sinkivka area and 8 attacks near Ivanivka, Kharkiv region. More than 15 settlements, in particular, Kamianka, Dvorichna, Ivanivka, Synkivka of the Kharkiv region, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Nevske, Bilogorivka, Novolyubivka, Serebryanske forestry of Luhansk Oblast and Spirne, Vesele, Siversk of Donetsk Oblast. The defense forces repelled 4 enemy attacks in the Makiivka district of Luhansk region and in the Serebryanske forestry district of Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by artillery and mortar attacks, among them Nevske, Belogorivka of Luhansk Oblast and Spirne, Rozdolivka, Verkhnokamianske of Donetsk Oblast.

In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Klishchiivka and Andriivka of the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Chasiv Yar of the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders courageously hold the defense, repulsed 7 enemy attacks in the Avdiivka area and another 7 attacks near Lastochkino, Tonenko, Pervomaisky, Nevelsky, Donetsk region. The occupiers carried out airstrikes in the areas of settlements of Novokalynove, Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka of the Donetsk region. About 10 settlements, including Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Mariinsky direction, during the day, the Defense Forces successfully repelled about 10 enemy attacks in the Maryinka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka districts of the Donetsk region. About 10 settlements were under the artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers, in particular, Georgiivka, Maryinka, Pobyeda, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka of the Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarske direction, the occupiers carried out airstrikes near Novomykhailivka, Staromayorsky, Donetsk region. About 10 settlements, including Vodyane, Vugledar, Zolota Niva, and Urozhane of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to restore the lost position in the Robotyny area of the Zaporizhzhia region. The occupiers launched an airstrike near Novodanilivka, Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 settlements, in particular, Malynivka, Orihiv, Novoandriivka, Pyatikhatki, Stepove of the Zaporizhzhia region, were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.

On the Kherson direction, Antonivka, Kherson, Bilozerka of the Kherson region and Ochakiv of the Mykolaiv region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue offensive operations in the Melitopol direction, offensive (assault) actions in the Bakhmut direction, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying troops, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces made 12 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 2 more – on the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile systems.

Units of the missile forces hit the control post and 9 artillery units of the enemy.

Forced displacement represents one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time. Individuals and families, torn from the fabric of their communities, find themselves navigating a world of uncertainty, often without basic necessities or a clear path to safety. There are currently some 110 million forced displaced, and this number is growing by 10 million each year!

At the heart of this crisis are the political triggers. Armed conflicts, ethnic or religious persecutions, and systemic human rights abuses force millions to flee their homes in terror. Many are displaced within their own national boundaries, while others seek asylum abroad. If these factors change as a result of political shifts at home or the pressures from abroad, they can return to their homes. Forced displacement is thus different from environmentally driven displacement, as victims of climate change may never be able to return to their homes.

The ramifications of any sort of displacement are profound, not just for those directly affected, but also for host communities and countries. Overburdened infrastructures, socio-economic strains, and cultural tensions can arise, necessitating comprehensive strategies to foster harmony and integration. Yet the root causes of forced displacement can be remedied with a concerted focus by local players and international diplomacy.

Organizations like Refugees International play a crucial role in this arena, advocating for the rights and needs of the displaced, conducting on-the-ground assessments, and influencing policymakers to take informed actions. Their relentless work underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency ofinternational cooperation. But they, too, are overwhelmed by the rapid expansion of the crisis.

International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with its core principles centered on the protection of civilians during conflicts, plays a pivotal role in this discourse. Yet, despite clear legal frameworks, compliance remains
inconsistent. This initiative emphasizes the importance of upholding and reinforcing these international standards.

It’s not just about recognizing the problem; it’s about active engagement. We urge governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the rights and needs of the forced displaced. Through collective efforts, informed policies, and sustained advocacy, we can shift the narrative from passive acknowledgment to proactive intervention.
