Minister of Defence of Ukraine:
Two important and productive days spent interacting with partners.
Yesterday we had a very important meeting in Wiesbaden with the military leadership of key partner countries. The Ukrainian delegation presented the plan for 2024, informed about the critical needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and presented the latest achievements in the construction of fortifications. It is very important to preserve this format of meetings on the eve of the meetings of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
Today, our team had a separate meeting with Secretary Austin and General Brown. We discussed Ukraine’s plan for 2024, the construction of fortifications, strengthening of Ukrainian air defense, provision of EW equipment. Long-range weapons became a separate topic of discussion.
During today’s 20th meeting in the Ramstein format, the coalition of partner countries demonstrated their unity and resolve in helping Ukraine.
Our forces are critically in need of ammunition. The ammo will be delivered! This was the main topic of the meeting. The partners announced aid packages, which include artillery shells of 155 mm, 152 mm, 105 mm, etc. We are grateful to our partners for searching for and finding ammunition all over the world, which is crucial to repelling the aggressor.
Air defense to protect our cities, to protect our soldiers from russian aircraft dropping guided bombs on our positions. There will be more missiles for our air defense systems. I am grateful to the Minister of Defense of Germany, who said that the sky over Ukraine belongs to Ukrainians. Therefore, our shared goal is to ensure Ukraine’s air superiority.
F16s should also help close our skies. We are actively working with all involved partners: the USA, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania and others, so that the planes are in Ukraine as soon as possible.
Our war to restore territorial integrity is the first full-scale drone war. We have several new countries that have joined the drone coalition and made contributions. The coalition’s first results will be drone deliveries to Ukraine in March. We are also discussing the possibility of investments in the Ukrainian production of those UAVs that have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield.
I also had a number of bilateral meetings: Germany, Sweden, Greece, France, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Portugal.
An important day, an important meeting.
