Daniel Pipes asks six pressing questions on Islamism: who is the enemy? How dangerous is the enemy? What are the enemy’s methods? How is the enemy doing? How is the enemy doing in the West? And how should the West respond?
Dr. Pipes answers: the enemy is a hostile, dangerous ideology that, while growing weaker, is a response to a religious identity crisis. The West should thus not use counter-terrorism but rather use reformist policies. Radical Islam is the problem, and moderator Islam is the solution.
Prominent Question: What about ISIS after the fall of Mosul? Is it defunct, or is it still alive?
Key Words: extreme, radical, terrorism, Islam, Muslim, ideology, Western response, Sharia, Middle East, and reformists
