Russian Defence Ministry on progress of special military operation as of 20 April 2025
Before the ceasefire began, in Belgorod direction, units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on manpower and hardware of three mechanised brigades, one assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and two territorial defence brigades close to Miropolskoye, Osoyevka, Turya, Mikhaylovskoye, and Stepok (Sumy region).
The AFU losses were up to 40 troops, three armoured fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, four field artillery guns, and one 122-mm Czech-made RM-70 Vampire MLRS combat vehicle. One ammunition depot was destroyed.
As a result of active actions, the Zapad Group of Forces’ units liberated Novomikhaylovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Russian troops inflicted fire damage on one assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two territorial defence brigades, and one National Guard brigade near Kupyansk, Smorodkovka, Ivanovka (Kharkov region), Kirovsk, and Yampol (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The AFU losses were up to 245 troops, one tank, one armoured personnel carrier, two Kozak armoured fighting vehicles, five motor vehicles, three field artillery guns, and one Grad MLRS combat vehicle. Three enemy ammunition depots were destroyed.
Units of the Yug Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions, defeated formations of four mechanised brigades, one assault brigade, one airmobile brigade, one air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one territorial defence brigade near Dyleyevka, Konstantinovka, Aleksandro-Shultino, Belaya Gora, Zarya, Aleksandro-Kalinovo, Yablonovka, and Kleban-Byk (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The AFU losses were up to 310 troops, one U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carrier, and four armoured fighting vehicles. In addition, ten motor vehicles, seven artillery guns, three electronic warfare stations, and one ammunition depot were neutralised.
The Tsentr Group of Forces’ units took more advantageous lines and positions, defeated formations of one mechanised brigade, one assault brigade, one jaeger brigade, one unmanned aerial vehicle brigade, and one assault regiment of the AFU near Uspenovka, Zverevo, Nadezhdinka, Krasnoarmeysk, Petrovskoye, and Novopavlovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The AFU losses were more than 420 troops, three Kozak armoured fighting vehicles, six motor vehicles, and two field artillery guns.
The Vostok Group of Forces’ units advanced further into the depths of enemy defences and inflicted fire damage on manpower and hardware of two mechanised brigades, one airmobile brigade, and one air assault brigade near Zelyonoye Pole, Bogatyr, Otradnoye, and Poddubnoye (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The AFU losses were more than 160 troops, one tank, three armoured personnel carriers, seven motor vehicles, and three field artillery guns, including one U.S.-made 155-mm Paladin self-propelled artillery system.
The Dnepr Group of Forces’ units improved the tactical situation. Russian troops hit formations of an artillery brigade of the AFU and one territorial defence brigade close to Novoyakovlevka and Stepnogorsk (Zaporozhye region).
The AFU losses were over 100 troops, one tank, five motor vehicles, four electronic warfare stations, and one ammunition depot.
Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, and Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces engaged AFU temporary deployment areas in 87 areas.
Air defence facilities shot down three JDAM guided bombs, one U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectile as well as 88 fixed-wing UAVs.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the AFU losses amounted to:
